Your station plays your music around the clock. A live show puts your voice, or a guest's, on air in the middle of it, then the music comes back by itself. This page explains how to get it and how a show works. Ready for your first show? Follow Getting started with live broadcasting.
Getting live for your station
Live shows are in early access: we switch them on per station. To ask for it:
Open your station dashboard and go to the Live tab.
Say what you would broadcast (a talk show, a DJ set, a service, an event), whether from a phone or a computer, and roughly how often.
Press Request live. We reply by email, usually within a day or two.
Once live is on, the Live tab shows Open the booth instead of the request.
Going on air from the booth
The booth is a page in your browser at yourstation.aweradio.app/booth, also reachable from the Live tab.
Open the booth and allow your microphone when the browser asks.
Check your level and, if you like, pick a music bed to play quietly under your voice.
Press Go on air. Your station switches from the music to you, for every listener. They hear you about 35 seconds after you speak; that is the broadcast buffer.
Press the same button (off air) when you're done. The music picks up again by itself.
Listeners hear you on your station page, in Discover and in the AWE Radio apps, the same places they hear your music. The sound check, the music bed and every other control are explained in Getting started with live broadcasting.
Guests
From the booth you can invite guests: the invite button gives a call-in code and a link, valid for four hours. A guest opens the link, allows their microphone and joins your show; they don't need an account.
Recordings and episodes
Every show is recorded automatically and listed in the Live tab. From there you can play it back, publish it as an episode, or delete it.
Before your first show
Use headphones, so your speakers don't echo back into the microphone.
Use a steady connection. Wi-Fi close to the router or a cable works best.
A computer is the most reliable. A phone works too; keep the booth page open and the screen on during the show.
Do a short test show before you announce one, and listen on another device.
