AWE Radio ("we", "our", "us") is operated by Retro 87 AB (org. nr 559489-2591), Sweden. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your data when you use aweradio.app and related services.
What We Collect
Broadcasters (station owners):
- Account information — email address and name via Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple (Firebase Authentication)
- Audio files — music you upload, stored in Firebase Storage
- Station metadata — station name, channel names, branding settings
- Live broadcasts — video/audio streams via LiveKit (not stored after broadcast ends)
Listeners:
- Anonymous session ID — a random identifier stored locally, not linked to your identity
- Stream quality metrics — latency, buffer levels, connection quality (sent to BigQuery for service improvement)
- Approximate location — derived from IP address for the listener map (city-level, not precise)
- Emoji reactions — stored temporarily in Firebase Realtime Database
We do NOT collect:
- Payment information (we don't charge — no billing data exists)
- Browsing history outside our platform
- Contacts, photos, or device data beyond what's listed above
How We Use Your Data
- Provide the service — stream audio, serve your station, show now-playing info
- Improve streaming quality — anonymous quality metrics help us optimize buffer sizes and detect issues
- Show listener analytics — station owners see listener counts and approximate geography
- AI classification — track metadata (title, artist, album) may be sent to Anthropic's API for vibe classification. Audio files are NOT sent.
Where Data Is Stored
- Firebase (Google Cloud) — authentication, database, file storage
- BigQuery (Google Cloud, EU region) — anonymous stream quality analytics
- DigitalOcean (NYC) — streaming infrastructure
- Cloudflare — CDN and DNS
- LiveKit Cloud — live video broadcasting (ephemeral, not stored)
Data Retention
- Account data — kept while your station is active. Deleted when you delete your station.
- Audio files — deleted when you remove tracks or delete your station.
- Analytics data — aggregated quality metrics retained for up to 1 year.
- Listener sessions — anonymous, expire after 15 seconds of inactivity.
Your Rights
Under GDPR (we're a Swedish company), you have the right to:
- Access your data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data
- Withdraw consent at any time

Cookies
We use minimal cookies:
- Firebase Auth — session token for station owners (essential)
- Cloudflare — security and performance (essential)
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Changes
We may update this policy. Significant changes will be communicated via the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
