Content & Repeat-Infringer Policy
Last updated: May 5, 2026
AWE Radio is a hosting platform — broadcasters bring their own content and licenses. This page documents what we expect from broadcasters and what happens when a station is the subject of a valid copyright complaint or other policy violation.
What you may not broadcast
- Content you do not own or are not licensed to broadcast (see our licensing guide)
- Content that is illegal under Swedish or applicable local law
- Hate speech, harassment, threats, or content targeting individuals or protected groups
- Sexual content involving minors — reported immediately to authorities
- Malware, phishing, or other technically harmful payloads
- Content uploaded without the consent of identifiable individuals it depicts
How we learn about violations
- DMCA takedown notices — submitted via our takedown form or directly to our designated agent.
- Listener and broadcaster reports — emailed to
hej@retro87.se.
- Automated detection — AcoustID-based fingerprint matching against known commercial recordings.
- Internal review — during operational checks of the platform.
Three-strikes process
Each valid copyright complaint or policy violation against a station results in a strike. Strikes accumulate over the lifetime of the station.
1
Material removed. Broadcaster notified by email and given the opportunity to submit a counter-notice or appeal.
2
Material removed. Station temporarily suspended for 7 days. Broadcaster must acknowledge our content guidelines before reinstatement.
3
Station permanently terminated. Broadcaster's account suspended. All hosted content removed. No future stations may be created from the same identity.
For severe violations (illegal content, sexual content involving minors, persistent malicious uploads), we may skip directly to permanent termination without prior strikes.
Counter-notice and appeals
If material was removed and you believe the takedown was filed in error or that you have a license we weren't aware of, you may submit a counter-notice by replying to your removal email with the subject line Counter-notice: [ticket ID]. A counter-notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the removed material and the URL where it appeared before removal
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification
- Your contact information and consent to local jurisdiction
Valid counter-notices are forwarded to the original complainant. If the complainant does not file a court action within 10–14 business days, we may restore the material.
Strike expiration
Strikes do not expire automatically. A station with one strike that operates without further violations for 12 months may request strike review by emailing hej@retro87.se.
Recordkeeping
We retain a record of all takedown notices, strikes, and enforcement actions in a Firestore collection (legal/dmca_notices and tenants/{slug}.strikes) for at least 6 years, in line with EU and Swedish recordkeeping norms. This record is available to the broadcaster on request.
